中国的出路

      在这个动乱的时代，整个世界都在不安中，人们有一种普遍的政治醒觉，就是，如果我们不参与政治，别人将要把与我们意志和良心相反的制度，强加到我们以及我们的子孙身上。

      人类的基本要求是生活的安全与自由，凡与此潮流相反的政治力量都绝不能长久存在。人类的进步理想，不仅是经济生活的安全，更需要心灵的平安与知识的自由。

   换句话说，人类经过数百年的奋斗争得了政治民主，现在应当以民主政治的方式，再进一步争取经济平等。但决不应为了经济平等而牺牲政治民主。因为没有政治的民主，经济平等就失去了基础，如果政治是在少数人独裁之下，即便能有经济的平等，也是赐予式的，统治者随时可以改变可以收回这种赐予。

   人类的进步是累积而来的，进步的主潮决不会是放弃政治民主，换取经济平等。而是政治民主进一步再加上经济平等。

   我国的宪政已开始，我们应当以宪政的方式，加紧步骤，实现政治民主与经济平等。能使多数人民满意，有工作有生活，是保卫民主抵抗一切极权主义的唯一有效途径。”

   “我们对民主制度（政治民主经济平等）的信念是坚定的。民主不仅是一种政治制度，而且是对于人生价值的一种信心，假如这种信心失掉了，人类也就不会有进步了。

   现在全世界的民主制度都在受着极权共产主义的威胁。……要民主宪政成功，至少须有二个以上象样的较大政党，然后人民始能有选择，政党始能彼此发挥监督砥砺的作用。但我们更反对极权共产集团。因为假如极权共产集团得势，人类便将要开倒车，一切的进步理想便全完了。1948年9月17日

These lovely photos of cats and kittens are some of the final works by renowned artist and wildlife photographer Jane Burton who died in 2007, aged 74

Jane and her husband Kim Taylor raised and adopted more than 60 cats and she photographed them at their studio in a converted school near Guildford, Surrey

Kim, who still lives at the couple's studio where he and his son also photograph a variety of other animals, said the photos were typical of Jane's talent for capturing animals at their best

"Cats are notoriously hard to photograph in the studio but Jane managed to achieve what many photographers have been unable to do," he said

"Jane was not just a talented photographer, she had trained as an artist and, with just a few unerring pencil lines, she could produce lifelike representations of animals," he continued
